Do I need a Doctor’s referral?
At this time, you may qualify for Direct Access to Physical Therapy!  If you do not qualify for Direct Access, you must be seen and referred by your physician to be treated in our office.  Contact our office if you are unsure about qualifying for Direct Access.

What should I expect on my first visit?
Unfortunately there will be paper work to complete at the beginning of your first visit.  However, you can save time by completing the forms included on this website.  We must gather information from you to be able to evaluate and treat you and to be able to bill your insurance company if you want us to.  We will also try to answer any questions you may have about your insurance coverage for physical therapy. After that your Physical Therapist will perform an evaluation to determine what deficits and other problems you have that can be addressed by physical therapy.  The evaluation involves a thorough history, a health history review, and measurements that allow the physical therapist to get a more specific understanding of your condition.  Your physical therapist will make a clinical judgment asto your diagnosis and prognosis.  A treatment program will be developed to resolve the problems you have identified as well as to attain the goals that are set for you.

How long will my visit last?
Your first visit will require 15 to 20 minutes to complete the paperwork, if you do not complete the forms that are listed on this website.  The evaluation and treatment will require an additional 30 to 60 minutes. In most instances, your visit time will be 60-90 minutes.

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that is loose and does not confine you or your movement.  If you have leg or ankle problems, bringing shorts will make your evaluation and treatment easier.  We also provide gowns for your convenience.

Will I have homework?
Yes.  Everyone must become a part of the healing process.  A home exercise program is used to speed your recovery and maximize your physical therapy program.  You need to participate in your home exercise program to maintain the gains achieved during your visits and improve your results.

Does my insurance cover Physical Therapy?
Most insurance companies provide some coverage for physical therapy when it is prescribed by your doctor.  The level of coverage varies based on your benefits.  Some insurance plans require pre-authorization.  We always recommend that you call your insurance provider to determine your coverage prior to your first visit.  We will review your insurance coverage with you during your first visit.
